When Nepal created a new Guinness World Record to host the Earth’s highest-altitude fashion show, they made sure that the reality that fashion is rising higher and it’s reaching skies is real.
The Mount Everest Fashion Runway was conducted at Kala Patthar (UNESCO World Heritage Site) near Everest base camp on January 26 in an effort to raise knowledge regarding climate change and encourage sustainable fashion. Eighteen supermodels representing ten different countries took the runway to make history.
Part of the ‘Visit Nepal Year 2020’ campaign a press release issued by Nepal Tourism Board read, “The designs, patterns and the materials used during the Fashion show were all-natural, organic and all Nepali product line from KASA. The clothing line was made of Nepali Pashmina, Felt and Yak Wool, ideal for winter wear.”
The designers also used probiotic detergent to lower carbon footprint. Nepal’s secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Kedar Bahadur Adhikari, and other dignitaries attended the display.
Among many famous models across the globe participating in the show, Miss Universe Sri Lanka 2018 Ornella Gunesekere was one of them . The models reportedly had to trek for 14 days to reach the highest altitude ramp in the world.Source : humourexpress
