The Mt. Everest Fashion Runway will be held at Kala Patthar, a UNESCO’s World Heritage Site, on the 4th week of January, 2020. This show will set the Guinness World Record for “The Highest Altitude Fashion Runway”. Fifteen international models from different parts of the world will trek for 14 days to walk on the highest ramp of the world.
KASA will be using this runway event to promote sustainable fashion and Visit Nepal 2020, and bilaterally create awareness about climate change and its effects on Mt. Everest and worldwide. This runway event will feature clothing and designs which will be made from wool felt and pashmina. These textile materials are handmade, renewable, sustainable, and biodegradable. By setting a record breaking example, KASA aims to encourage fashion industries around the world to adopt and promote sustainable fashion.
The Mt. Everest Fashion Runway will be held at Kala Patthar, a UNESCO’s World Heritage Site. We have selected Kala Patthar (5,643 m), a picturesque landmark near the Mount Everest Base Camp to draw the world’s attention to climate change’s effects not just in urban lands but also in mountains and oceans from fashion industry waste.
Kala Patthar, meaning 'black rock‟ in Nepali is a notable landmark located on the south ridge of Pumori in the Nepalese Himalayas. The views of Mt. Everest, Nuptse and Changtse are spectacular from Kala Patthar.
